The Dreamer's Issue
In honor of Journey Magazine's 40th Year Anniversary, I spearheaded the production of "The Dreamer's Issue," as Editor in Chief. The idea stemmed from my personal experiences, navigating the world of the arts and creativity, while trying to live up to my family's expectations of me.
This project features 12 articles by a team of talented staff writers, including two that I wrote. It was important to me to begin the issue with my "Editor's Letter," expressing the importance of our dreams and my family's four-generation legacy on the Highest of Seven Hills. But, I also wanted to pay homage to the remarkable editors who came before me and paved the way for excellence in the final article, "Through the Eyes of A Dreamer."
The History of Black Hair (Wakati Issue)
This project stemmed from an idea that my managing editor, Brandi Roman, and India Gay, who worked as an intern with Wakati, had in their public relations class. The Wakati haircare brand was founded on FAMU's campus, and this collaboration further exemplifies the importance of supporting black businesses.
